Nidiffer Wins Again

Craig Nidiffer of Trenton won his fifth Budweiser Michigan Majors title and his second consecutive with a 226-222 victory over Randy Warnken of Clinton Township at Royal Scot Lanes in Lansing. Nidiffer took home $1,000 and Warnken $600 for their efforts.

Nidiffer qualified third for the stepladder finals and proceeded to beat John Murphy of Saginaw 267-195 and Ken Wyatt of Sterling Heights 261-194 en route to the championship match.

Warnken was the top seed for match play with a nine-game total of 2,173. Wyatt was the top six-game qualifier with 1,500, an average of 250.

The stepladder finals began with John Murphy defeating Troy Stus of South Lyon 40-39 in the ninth and 10th frame rolloff after the game was tied at 226.

Wyatt cashed for $500, Murphy $400 and Stus $300.

Other Oakland County cashers were Matt Anderson of Holly $150 and Bob Chamberlain Jr. of Holly $110.
